Google SEO Fundamentals by UC Davis However, Google recommends a free online SEO certification course called Google SEO Fundamentals, which is part of an SEO specialization series created by the University of California at Davis and promoted by Coursera. Learn about search engine algorithms and how they affect organic search results and websites. Based on this knowledge, you'll learn the key elements for creating an effective SEO strategy, including how to select keywords and conduct keyword research; consumer psychology and search behavior; and how to perform on-page SEO analysis to identify opportunities to improve search optimization on a website. If you want to become an SEO expert, my advice is to start a website as soon as possible after learning the basics of SEO.
Technically, this isn't an SEO certification, but it does include SEO modules, including modules on search ads and local search. This certification exam is combined with a course of the same name, but Semrush includes several SEO-focused courses and certifications. Google's SEO Fundamentals certification had annoying background music and seemed a bit dated, but that's a minor point. With the amount of free resources out there, from beginner SEO guides to advanced SEO strategy guides, I don't recommend paying a lot of money for basic certification.
There are probably some SEO certifications that delve into an area of SEO, such as keyword research or technical SEO, but the ones I found were quite basic. It includes 26 modules, approximately 14 hours of material and covers many aspects of digital marketing, three of them dedicated exclusively to SEO. Each of the “certifications” I obtained had well-produced videos, explained the concepts well and shared accurate knowledge of SEO in general. After researching countless SEO certifications and taking three of them, my opinion is that there is no “best SEO certification”.
We asked 15 SEO hiring managers about the skills and requirements they consider important when hiring an SEO specialist. Next, we'll discuss the use of on-page SEO techniques so that you know how to optimize keywords in metadata and how to perform competitive analysis on a website. While these strategies are more indirect than on-page SEO, they're still important for maximizing page authority. This module will clarify what external SEO is and will help you understand the creation of links to your site and brand recognition through social networks.
There's no common SEO degree or curriculum, which can seem daunting if you're trying to learn how to get started in SEO.
